HISTORY

In 1994, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Prince Albert’s presidency and the 90th anniversary of the first international motorboat meetings in 1904, the Yacht Club de Monaco organised a unique event dedicated to classic yachting, which was then enjoying a renaissance. The event, which brought together vintage motorboats, vintage motor yachts and traditional sailing boats, was so successful that it was repeated in 1996 and again in 1997 to celebrate the Principality’s 700th anniversary. Since then, this biennial event has continued to welcome, by invitation, the finest traditional yachts and vintage motorboats, with passionate shipowners on board.

La Belle Classe Tradition

The Belle Classe Tradition, an initiative of the Yacht Club de Monaco, aims to preserve and promote the expertise and elegance of classic yachts.

This label guarantees a high level of quality in terms of catering, service and respect for the environment, bringing together passionate owners and yachting enthusiasts around the values of respect, courtesy and solidarity.

In 1862, eager to make his country a showcase for yachting and technological innovations, Prince Charles III encouraged the organisation of the first regattas. The Société des Régates de Monaco, whose yachting section became the Yacht Club de Monaco in 1953, was founded in 1888 by a group of sailing and rowing enthusiasts who attracted international regattas from 1889 onwards.
Witness to a rich cultural and historical heritage, the maritime sailing heritage continues to fascinate. Every two years, the Y.C.M. puts the spotlight on vessels that are the pride of their owners and a reminder of the long tradition linking the Principality to the sea.
